Portrait shoot
Black and white, unapologetically you. We have a long session to get to know each other. We do this because the goal is to capture your personality. In order to do so, you need to be at ease, and I need to understand what to capture. This way, we achieve the perfect result together.

Personal Documentary
A deep dive into your life. To show you and your loved ones exactly what your life looks like, we create a personal documentary. Not unlike the pictures we see in our relatives’ photo albums, but more professional. It can be as simple as showcasing a regular day in your life or following a project you work on over a longer period.
Price on request. Starting at €1500. -

Commercial Work
Make your work stand out by translating your personal touch into images that portray it. We create pictures where your message is told by focusing on what’s important. So, whether we are capturing a finished product, its production cycle, an event you host, or pictures of your staff, together we create one coherent story.

who is the guy
behind
the camera?
I am Cas van Laar. I’ve been a professional photographer for over 15 years. During that time, I’ve worked on many different projects. My style is a combination of high fashion and classical street photography. I love creating documentary work and personal portraits. My most important skill is making sure the person on the other side of my camera feels comfortable. This allows me to showcase people as they truly are, rather than how they feel they have to present themselves when a camera is pointed at them.
questions i often get
-
The average first session takes 2 to 3 hours. The most important thing during a portrait shoot is for you to feel comfortable with the person behind the camera. To reach that point, we take our time getting to know each other before moving on to taking pictures.

My initial response is always no. My pictures tell a story. To do this, the subject has to be the focus. Color distracts by adding unnecessary information. It also leaves space for the viewer to interpret the context, engaging them more with the images.
-
I could but I won’t. I think it’s important to celebrate the imperfections that make us who we are. The lines in our faces tell stories just like the clothes we wear. Especially in portraits, we have only one short moment to show who we really are. If half of that story is erased by Photoshop, the portrait will never truly reveal who we are.

Yes, I love going abroad and meeting new people from different backgrounds. I will even move my studio to you if that’s the best way to portray you.

I do, I have put my focus on on working with men because men often don’t see a reason to take pictures unless they have a practical use for them. But I believe everyone should have something to show others who they are—and, most of all, to see themselves in a new light for once.
